Bluescope required a way to check production and logistics data so that products could be tracked once they had left the production line and were loaded for shipment or stacked on the factory floor. This process is essential to ensure that products are tracked all the way through to shipment. The legacy systems in place, including a mainframe controlling production data, meant that tracking constantly moving products was difficult and time consuming and involved using paper processes and intensive manual intervention.

Unifii Operations Cloud contains sophisticated bar code, QR code and NFC scanning capabilities and this was deployed to run on an Android based Zebra barcode scanner. Product is now able to be quickly scanned and checked in real-time against inventory and shipping lists, immediate feedback was then provided to confirm that each piece of metal was in the correct location or not meant to be where it currently is. By matching the data, an audit trail was produced which dramatically improved trackability of product, exception management and a way to ensure that deliveries were complete.
